Hi.

I have a DS-7616NI-E2 running V3.0.8 build 140825 and I would like to upgrade the firmware. The recomendation is to do it step by step but I´m not sure if I can update. The purpose of the update is to get Chrome or Firefox working and some new features.

From what i see, the model is RR, so not chineese.
DS-7616NI-E2 16 2014 11 01 AA RR ......... WCVU

The following output indicates that thelanguage=1

So, looks like the upgrade should work. Am I missing something?

I will get the firmware from Hikvision EU portal in the "07 E-series » [7600NI-E1(E2) 7700NI-E4]" folder and I can upgrade one by one until v3.4.106.

Do I have a chance to success?

Regards.

It looks like you're approaching this carefully.
I believe the device will be upgradable from the existing very old firmware, when done in stages - and assuming the flash memory is still working OK.

The purpose of the update is to get Chrome or Firefox working and some new features.
Certainly you will get some useful new features - but I'm pretty sure that model won't support the 'websocket' browser capability that would render video in Chrome or Firefox.

Thank you. I'm aware that some of the units are from China and I don't want to brick the device. Even if its an old devices it does a good job. Hopefully, I will integrate it into my HomeAssistant :)

Good news. It is working!

Just in case somebody needs it, I've upgraded to 3.2.0, 3.2.1, 3.3.0. After that, I tried to upgrade to 3.3.1 and got the following errror during update: "Failed to get the upgrading progress". So I tried with few higher versions and with the latest one 3.4.106. Same result. Then, I decided to reboot the NVR and when it came back online I realized that It has the 3.4.106, so the upgrade did happen despite getting the error.

I just tested it on both browsers and it is not working :(
Hi, just thought I'd mention there is a really simple IE plugin for chrome which runs webcomponents just fine. Functionality is perfect on my similarly geriatric NVR through chrome with the plug-in.

Makes life a lot simpler.

Old thread but in case someones looking.
Chromes extension is not free anymore. Microsoft edge has this built in now and it works flawlessly. You have to enable internet explorer support in the settings. Then you can reload a page in internet explorer mode. You can even select to always load that address in internet explorer mode. Working great!
