DS-7108HGHI-F1/N - neither save settings nor update

Hi,
This Hikvision DVR DS-7108HGHI-F1/N is neither saving settings nor updating.
It asks for the password (forgotten) every time after boot I tried to reset password by contacting Hikvision local support and it changes password by entering reset code but once it reboots it gets back to previous state ...
I tried to upgrade the firmware from web access also it takes update and then reboots to same password state.
I tried to upgrade firmware from UART method but it throughs error at last stage "upgrade verify .... error!) only upgrade firmware it takes and gives reboot message is the same firmware it's currently running on (V3.4.891build 190121).

So, anyone here can please guide me to a solution to this problem! or recover the lost password in worst scenario.

Bit of a long shot!
As it's an old unit, I suspect the battery upon the mother board has failed. Think it's a 2032 button battery. Easy and cheap to replace. Could resolve the issue?
