DMSS mobile app thumbnail images - supported?

Running Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 with mostly IPC-HDW5442T-ZE cameras.
In the DMSS and DMSSHD apps, it seems there are placeholder images where snapshots should be showing up - representing events as viewable on the NVR. Is there a way to get these populated with actual snapshot images?

@EMPIRETECANDY Is there a way to get the thumbnails with the snapshot of the event?
 
Looking for thumbnails in the video clip page for the camera in DMSS App. Thumbnails do appear for notifications so they are working and are setup correctly.

See attached image.

there are two different thumbnail systems in DMSS..
one for notifications / mailbox - which is based on multichannel subscriptions - those thumbnails are generated by camera&NVR and send over Dahua cloud at event/notification creation time. Those are the same thumbnails which You see in AI->AI search->IVS module (or other NVR AI modules)..

second are in camera view - as classic timeline event list... in this view DMSS don't understands IVS or other AI events - DMSS treats all events simply as motion events from 2010 (yes it can display event type - Motion/IVS but that's all)... and downloads snapshots for each event time from NVR/camera to show them as thumbnails..

There is a workaround using another app ‘EasyViewer Plus’ which connects directly to your NVR accounts. This does show all the thumbnails, although unfortunately they’re very small compared to those on the DMSS app, although I guess better than having none … . I‘ve been trying to find a solution for the DMSS app, but its clearly a Dahua problem by the looks of things, which probably means a long wait.
 
If anyone knows of any other workarounds, solutions, and or a better apps that provide this functionality with Dahua NVRs please let me know. Thanks

Any ideas come to mind as to why I cannot get notifications on DMSS for animals. Tripwire and intrusion for "Human" and Motor Vehicle" work just fine. My 5 series NVR detects animals just fine (have several 5442-S3 cams with latest firmware for animals) and I can search for animals on the NVR and it records them correctly. Just no push notification to the app for animals.
