What settings are you using with this camera for your Day and Night profiles?

Clearly, I do not want Auto for either Day or Night.
If I set only shutter speed, things get wonky/sub-optimal.
But is Shutter Priority a better choice than Gain Priority?

Am I lazy? No. Just too darned busy with work to keep fiddling with it every day for several days.

Thanks in advance.

I told you the primary ones.
Change your Exposure to Manual/Customized Range of 0-8.33 or maybe 0-16.67
DNR 30

As to each individual little setting, it takes me many hours to get a camera dialed in, each location is different, so my settings wont be the exact same as what you need. No two locations are identical. I can tell you that your scene in B&W with IR wil be vastly different than mine in color with two 1200 lumen coach lights.

Okay, but my gain numbers don't allow any fractional values.
That's where I'm losing track of things, I'm afraid.
DNR below 50 makes perfect sense, thanks for that suggestion.

I did mention it was a dumb question, didn't I? ;)

Well, I'm the dumb part of the question. You were talking Exposure/Shutter speed, and I was looking at Exposure/Gain. :banghead:
I think another part of the issue is, my Shutter Speed values are expressed as fractions of seconds, and 8.33 ms = 1/120 sec.
DOH!! The dropdown list of shutter speed values includes (at the very bottom, where you cannot see it) a 'Custom' value.

Maybe if I set aside more time and thought it out further, I'd get ahead a bit more.

Thank you, @bigredfish for your kind assistance and patience.

It’s a lot to learn, we’ve all been there ;) I’m still learning myself.
But there’s no replacing time spent playing with the settings to see how each effect the image.

Two important things
1- play with one setting at a time
2- always check results with motion in the video, don’t rely on pretty still snapshots.
