PTZ preset images may now be viewed on the PTZ/presets page in camera settings. These
images are now also manageable via remote management. The images now may also be
used for motion zone editor “backgrounds” which may be useful if you are editing at night
or when the camera is otherwise offline.

Tested Intel HW accelerated decoding with my Dahua cameras and it seems to be working! I did bump up a few cameras from 10fps to 15fps, but either way my GPU utilization is up :)

CPU from around 22% now around 32%. GPU utilization from 35% to 50%.

I gave Ken access to one of my cameras and he found a bug and resolved it in this version.

Please clarify what you mean. HW decode has been working on all of the most recent updates for me, for H.264 only.

With today's update, H.265 HA decode appears to work now on Intel.

What version of the Intel HD driver are you using to make h265 HW work?

Which decoder is selected? (Intel, DXVA2...)

I am still using the Intel driver 20.19.15.5063 with HD4600 that was recommended on here for a while.
Is is better now to finally update this driver with these newer versions of BI or stay with this older driver?

Think Intel and h.265 is working for me as well now with this version.

If its working, leave it. You cannot use 265 hardware acceleration anyway because it requires 6th gen and up processors.

The H265 HW acceleration seems to be working for me (Intel+VPP, driver 4664), but using UI3 the CPU load is the same as before so maybe the hardware decoding is not working in some cases :(

If you used HW acceleration for H.264 and switched your cameras to H.265, your CPU would dramatically increase if HW acceleration did not work.

Pay attention to your GPU utilization.. if it goes down that's a good indicator that HW acceleration did not work because the work was moved to the CPU.

just to be clear, H.265 > H.264, correct? As in... noticeable improvement? I gots the 4th gen (i7-4770) which (if I read right) does not handle H.265. Trying to decide to keep eyes open for 6th/7th/8th gen if H.265 is worth it.

It uses less storage, its not "better". And the 4770 handles 265 just fine, its just that you cannot use intel hardware acceleration. If you intend to upgrade, look only at 8th gen as there is a huge performance jump to 8th gen.

noted. thanks. so far with 14 cams, my 4770 is handling things aok. but using USFF and Synology NAS is bugging me with the alerts delay showing up (sometimes upto 30 seconds). not critical but does give me reason to swap over to SFF with internal HD bays.

using a nas should not affect alerts

my ALERTS are stored on the NAS (10 GB allowed, after that they get deleted). only "NEW" is stored on local HD. Hmm...only 10 GB. I think I might move ALERTS to my local HD after all

There is nothing stored in the alerts folder unless you are storing high res alert images. Alerts are simply pointers to clips and this information is stored in the database. Regardless it would not affect notifications.

After wondering why my GPU has been at 0%. It seems one of the latest windows updates didn't install the Intel HD 530 Drivers correctly. It left it as unknown VGA driver. After having issues trying to install the driver " Forbidden by policy". I finally got it install after changing the local policy. GPU is back in business and CPU is down to 20% from 40%+. Also to to get a lot more days in storage from H265. Looks like close to 3 times as much judging by network traffic reduction.

Finally H265 decode is working properly!

i may have to re-read some blue iris material. But if alerts are just simply pointers to clips (which are also stored on my NAS), does not BI have to load alert short clips on the left hand side of UI3? that is my delay, on UI3 screen upon logging in. And yep, you are correct. My ALERTS folder is empty.
