Hi all i hope your all staying safe and well,
A quick question i'm putting a new camera near my bird feeders. it's goin to be around 4 to 6 feet away. 7 ft high. what would be the best lens size. i have a choice between the two lens size's. the photo is where the camera is going it's a 2.8mm lens would a 3.6 be any better for me..Preview_birdwatch_01_20210119_124027_9800544.jpg

I'd say stay with 2.8. Wider FOV for that area the better which I think gives it a more natural atmosphere habitat look. 3.6mm would be easier to see what they are doing. Maybe it simple....get 2 camera's and see :) Can always use the one not used for something else or from different angle.

keep in mind your actual FoV will depend on the sonsor AND lens combo in the cam you choose. IE, a 3.6mm lens on a 1/1.8" sensor tends to be wider than a 3.6mm lens on a 1/3" sensor...

but i agree with Holbs that you probably don't want go much narrower view than the photo you provided to still catch all the bird-ish action...
