Something similar to Abode Edge ?

https://www.tomsguide.com/news/abodes-new-security-camera-works-from-up-to-15-miles-away The long battery life and 1.5 mile WiFi (HaLow) distance are quite appealing for placing some remote cameras. My guess is the image quality isn't too great and it only works w/ their subscription system...

    New 5442 doesn't like default password ?

Setting up several new cameras. A new in the box (but prob 1-2 years on shelf) IPC-T5442T-ZE doesn't like admin/admin. It replies with 'Login Failed!' Also tried admin/ admin/password admin/Admin admin/1234 Took the cover off and did a button reset but still doesn't work. Any ideas? Thanks,

    Recommendations - Interior / Ceiling Mount / POE / Unobtrusive / Fixed & PTZ

I'm looking for interior cameras for our house. All will be mounted in the ceiling (so thru sheetrock mounting is ideal). Prefer as small and unobtrusive as possible. Ceiling is white. All locations have ethernet / POE+. All can be fixed focus or vari-focal though a couple of locations would...

Camera for end of 1000' driveway ? WiFi? Ethernet? Other?

We have about an 800' driveway from an outbuilding (w/ Ethernet Switch) to the road and given recent stolen mail incidents we are thinking a camera down there wouldn't be a bad idea. We do have 120v power at the road end. It is somewhat heavily treed. This is MN so temps of -20°f are common in...

Guy stealing stuff - thoughts on camera image ?

A neighbor posted this. Thoughts on what camera this is, why the perps face is so blurred, how it compares w/ other cameras or can be improved? Thanks,

    2MP vs 4MP vs 8MP - day vs night ?

A 4MP needs about twice as much light as a 2MP? However, can a 4MP operate as a 2MP? IOW, would it make any sense to get a 4MP or 8MP and have it at full rez during the day and then downrez at night? Thanks,

    Help w/ additional cameras ?

I've roughed in for 4 exterior cameras on our detached studio. Two in the gable facing our house (150' from studio to house front), one under an eve looking down our driveway and one under a boat shed. I've had a number of Dahua/Loryta cameras from Andy and for my simple mind's ability to learn...

    Door Station w/ 2 buttons ?

Is there a good door station / doorbell that has two buttons (plus camera and possibly mic & speaker)? I'd like to be able to distinguish between someone standing at the door who needs someone to come immediately and a package drop-off that is not so urgent. So far those that I've found are...

    Temp/Portable desktop/shelftop WiFi/PLA camera solutions ?

We want to get 3 cameras that can be easily moved around our house. Most locations do not have easy ethernet access so I think either WiFi or Powerline (AV2). Our WiFi network is fairly robust (Five Unify Nano's, one Nano-HD and one AP-AC-Pro) but I think I'd prefer to avoid WiFi if possible...

    Best E-Locks for exterior doors?

It seems that there are a few that should be avoided as they are not very secure. I'd read somewhere a year or two ago to avoid Baldwin as they used a cheap circuit that was easily hacked and their locks could be drilled easily. Are there others that s/b avoided? Any that are especially good...

    4MP/Varifocal/Starlight? IPC-HFW5442E-ZE, N45DB7Z, Or ??

Hi Andy. I THINK what I want for a base general purpose camera is 4MP / Varifocal / Starlight? Ideally turret but it seems for now bullet may be the only good option? These would fulfill about 17 positions w/ the remaining 10 a combo of PTZ and higher rez fixed focus. These seem good options...

Designing a new system: Begin w/ 5231 as default cam and then find exceptions ?

Designing a surveillance system for our new house has suddenly fallen in to my lap so I'm trying to do so rather quickly. We are scheduled to move in on 5 Jun. The camera locations (27 in all) and focus points have been determined and pre-wired. I'm trying to pick the best cameras for each. It...

    How insecure is OVRC?

SnapAV are building OVRC in to every product they make or distribute giving techs full 24/7 remote access to every bit of equipment in a home including cameras. Techs can also view and presumably capture all LAN traffic. Extremely little info on their website about what they're doing from a...
