Working with Cat 5E vs. Cat 6 experiences & Pass Through Connectors

I've done thousands of RJ45s and probably a few thousand RJ11s. I only use dead front connectors. Some days it goes really fast a quick, some days it doesn't. It takes a lot of practice and even then there are those days....

Deepstack not detecting anything 100% of the time: Server Error 100

There's a hyper link there to confirm DS is running using your default browser. It seems to move with revisions and I'm not sure where it is on the AI tab, but if I remember correctly it's sort of halfway down on the let side.

    Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-ColorX-4K / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

No need to rush, it's still not available, officially anyway. You've put in a heck of a lot of work and effort already. Sit back, have a brew or coffee or whatever and relax a little.

You can verify that DS is running in the AI tab in the BI system configuration window. Just click on the link there.

Help/Suggestions on picking the right surveillance system and number of cameras (beginner)

With the CCP Virus, lockdowns, masks and so on, things have changed dramatically. Be a pessimist, not an optimist.

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I heard Fraudci say this morning that the research was to prevent a SARS COVID 2 variant. Instead we got the CCP Virus, COVID 19. Way to go there Fraudci.

    Camera settings for BI

Surprising to say the least. I don't own either of those models but assume that Dahua firmware is fairly consistent across the line with basic parameters. Maybe @EMPIRETECANDY can shed some light on this with the Loryata anyway.

Deepstack not detecting anything 100% of the time: Server Error 100

You're asking too much from a laptop. A used business class Dell, HP or Lenovo is a much better choice and cheaper than building your own.

Deepstack not detecting anything 100% of the time: Server Error 100

Then the machine, CPU, just isn't up to the task. I use the GPU version and see detection times as low as 55ms on an i7-6700K using a GTX970. Any idea what the CPU temperature is?

Deepstack not detecting anything 100% of the time: Server Error 100

Running BI on a laptop is not a good idea to start with. The processor will throttle as it heats up and given that it gets no breaks because it is constantly processing multiple video streams it will heat up fairly quickly. Add in running DeepStack, which is also processor intensive, and the...

Help/Suggestions on picking the right surveillance system and number of cameras (beginner)

Given that those cameras have a 2.8mm lens they will not be very useful if you're trying to identify someone day or night and especially at night. I looked at the specs for the camera and couldn't find a sensor size mentioned. An 8MP camera needs a sensor that is at least 1/1.2". I suspect...

    Camera settings for BI

Both of those cameras, Loryata and Amcrest, should allow bit rates to be set higher. Look for a manual setting under the bit rate selection and a bit rate box will appear. Then enter your preferred bit rate manually.

    PTZ Sky Cam Recommendation?

Well, you could start with one and add a second sometime later down the road. You're looking for a camera that is a specialty camera since you want a PTZ that can point straight up. If you invert a normal PTZ you'll end up with water in the PTZ mechanism since they aren't designed to be...

    MC400L chinese camera

Given that it's an "off brand" camera I think you're going to end up having to try to find one on your own. You could try searching the board for the camera and see if there are any other threads about it. That best done from the address bar of your bowser, "site:ipcamtalk.com MC400L" for...

Lost all Alerts After BI 5 Update

The updates you're seeing are related to DeepStack AI detection which is a relatively new feature in BI. The basic version 5 is quite stable. You don't specify which version you are running and there are many revisions, already, in BI V5. The current version is 5.4.9.14 The first thing to do...

    Hello from Florida

:welcome: Have a look in the Wiki, in the blue bar, at the top of the page. Tons of great information in there but read it on a computer, not a phone or tablet. The "latest and greatest" is a 1/2.8" sensor for a 2MP camera and a 1/1.8" sensor for a 4MP camera. There are a few 8MP cameras...

Blueiris schedule and Reolink auto IR

I don't think Reolink allows control of the IR change, along with a whole lot of other things that are critical to good operation of a camera.

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

That's fine. Any change? I doubt it. The camera can stay connected. It has no bearing on the configuration of the network interface on the machine. Do you have a port scanner utility? I'm curious to see if your machine shows up in the 192.168.1.x subnet and also if the camera shows up...

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

The default gateway, in this case, is for the PC and has nothing to do with security (blocking internet access) for the cameras.
