Good quality Dahua mini bullet camera

I have a IPC-HFW4231E-SE 2MP starlight that works well. It's fixed focal length. I don't know what "mini" means to you, but it's my smallest dahua camera. Might very well be out of production by now.

    Copper Thieving ..

Ditto for me. On a smaller scale I've vaporized a few multimeter probes trying to measure voltage when the + lead was in the 10 amp socket. My newer meter beeps when the lead is in the 10A socket and voltage is selected on the switch.

    US Presidential Election 2020 (& Politics) :)

How's this one for journalistic integrity? The story that's linked to has a different headline and a picture of Biden instead of Trump. Yahoo "news" is nothing more that pure democratic party propaganda.

Type of Cat cable for Suspension

Just to be clear, I'm interpreting this statement to say that the shield should be grounded at only one end. I've been following the earth grounding and bonding debates for about 10 years after having a solar electric system installed. I ended up with 2 grounding points about 80 feet apart...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Here's what looks like a scientific study that I interpret as saying masks do more harm than good. Facemasks in the COVID-19 era: A health hypothesis Not personally having any technical knowledge of the subject, how am I supposed to know what to believe when different scientists tell me...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Do you mean the scientists who said there was no need to wear a mask until there was a need to wear a mask? Or the ones who said to disinfect surfaces until it wasn't necessary to disinfect surfaces? Or the ones who said the shot provides 100% protection from death from covid until deaths...

From the New York Times Court Vindicates Black Officer Fired for Stopping Colleague's Chokehold Read just three sentences: "What she encountered was a white officer who appeared to be “in a rage” punching a handcuffed Black man in the face repeatedly as other officers stood by. Horne, who is...

They're the two that don't mess with your DNA, just in case that might have anything to do with it. I view these decisions as political, not as following the science.

IP Cameras Using 3G/4G Connection With No Public IP

I'm following this thread as the fly on the wall, waiting for the "never use P2P", "P2P is insecure", etc. demonizers to chime in. Looking forward to some good fireworks. :)

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

“I don’t think it was pulling the trigger too quickly,” Fauci said, adding, “That’s one of the things that I think is such a good thing about our system here, is that we are ruled by the science, not by any other consideration.” What good is following the science when the science keeps...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I obviously didn't make my point, using the breakthrough deaths only as an example. Step 1: The experts and media tell us something very definite. Step 2: You're a science denier, ignoramus, etc. to not believe it. Step 3: There's an explanation why step 1 wasn't correct. Step 4: Go to step 1...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

It has been all over the media how the vaccine is 100% effective at preventing death from covid. For example: Take whatever COVID vaccine you can get. All of them stop death and hospitalization. " Not a single vaccinated person has died of COVID-19. ", vs: "While there are many mild cases of...

Dahua NVR4216-4KS2 password or factory reset

If the NVR has older firmware you could try the two default accounts admin/admin and 888888/888888 on the local interface. The newer firmware has eliminated this access to enhance security. For the newer firmware there's something in the manual about scanning a QR code and receiving an email...

    US Presidential Election 2020 (& Politics) :)

Only natural for power freaks who think they're smarter than everybody else and want total control over everybody who doesn't agree with them. And they're succeeding. They've got the press, most corporations, and social media. Now the constitution is their biggest obstacle.

    Smart PSS Problem IVS PICS

Congratulations! You're the 2nd person in the world who has this problem. I was the first, and got no helpful responses when I posted about it a year or so ago. The problem began when I switched from the 32-bit to 64-bit version of smartPSS. I've combed all of the smartPSS config options and...

Do any of you actually use Dahua P2P for external access to your cams?

I answered this is post #15. My Internet plan will not allow any open ports. Can't use OpenVPN or similar. I have an OpenVPN router sitting in my closet as a paperweight. There have been posts from time to time from others in the same situation, Starlink being the latest example.

Do any of you actually use Dahua P2P for external access to your cams?

I've been watching with interest a bipolar aspect of the forum. There's this "P2P is bad" thread, and another about Starlink satellite internet. In the Starlink thread a number of remote access ideas are discussed, some examples being cgnat, zero tier, ngrok, hoppy, and VPN in a cloud. All of...

Dahua are Part Owned by the Chinese Government, Did You Know?

I didn't know it and I'm also not surprised. At least it's clear who owns who. Here in the US I can't figure out if the government owns the large corporations, or if the large corporations own the government.

Do any of you actually use Dahua P2P for external access to your cams?

I just heard that a Ford Pinto burst into flames after getting rear ended, therefore an F150 is a death trap. No question that older Dahua products and firmware had weak security. I don't recall seeing a report anywhere of a breach due to P2P on a current model with current firmware.

***PSA for those with a New DAHUA NVR with Built-in PoE switch

You're going to get bombarded with posts saying not to do either. I'm just going to answer the question. Overall the security is pretty similar although I'd give a slight edge to P2P. With either one, the security vulnerability is determined by the security of the camera and NVR firmware...

Dahua NVR fan speed - noisy as hell!

From the model number I'm assuming this is the non-POE version with the external power brick. I consider mine to be very reasonable with the fan noise. Mine is pretty old, version 1.0 hardware. I wonder if something has changed with the newer versions?
