In the process of selling my house and I was trying to change the passwords on my ip cameras to something I could give the buyers. Even though I changed the PW on the IPC-HDW2231R-ZS, every time I cycled the power I ran into problems. I tried to do a factory reset from one of the config programs and then I ended up totally screwed. Now I cannot access it from the network at all. If I try to use the Dahua tool to change it to DHCP, it gives me a PW error. Is there some way to do a factory reset and start over? Thanks

You may have an IP address conflict, two cameras or other devices with the same IP address. It also could have ended up on a different subnet depending on how your network is configured.

I think it is on a different subnet. I cannot seem to access it to change the subnet.

I had something weird that I learned today...
I plugged in a Factory reset 5442 yesterday ( purchased from Ipcamtalk Member) to " see how far I could get" before doing anything drastic.
It showed up in the NVR and on the "live view" ( BONUS)
But it didn't like the default Dahua factory reset p-word. of admin/admin
So I msged the seller, and tried his p-word ( nogo) 4th attempt. :nervous:
for my 5th attempt I thought maybe I'll input the NVR's admin password. ( which is the same global password of all my Cams too) and it worked.
Sooooooo
Maybe your camera, like mine, after its factory reset, and has a DHCP address, gets " auto-assigned" an IP and "auto assigned" the admin P-word from NVR?
fuck if I know,,,,but that was weird.

so scratch that if your running BI...
run the Amcrest IP config tool
or the Dahua version
and see what, if anything it can tell you about your networks devices?
I ran Dahua and the ip address has .86 for the third number, where the others is .2. The gateway is .86 as well. Don't know how to fix that. It won't let me in because of the PW (I think)

I'm pretty sure the 2231 has a reset button under the SD card cover. Take the camera down, if it's mounted. Use a known good cable to hook it up "on the bench" but don't plug it in until you have that button pressed. Plug it in and hold the button down continuously for at least 30 seconds, you may hear a click as the IR filter moves. That should get it back to factory with an IP of 192.168.1.108 If not, repeat the procedure. Sometimes firmware can be a little corrupt or not load properly/fully.

one way or another that cam need to be reset physically.
and then find the cable it's running on,,,,and make your own network of a pc and the cam and a switch
Or cut and run.....and leave it for the next owner....

Actually went out tonight to try it. I did get it reset, but the 3rd number comes back as .1 now as stated above and everything else is .2. Having connection settings.

I can't seem to communicate with the camera at all, and I think it's because my computer ip is 192.168.2.*** and the camera is 192.168.1.108. The .2 and the .1 are screwing me up, but I don't know how to fix it.
