@Podagrower,

I read somewhere that they aren't making the 2MP PTZs anymore. So, to get the same low light performance with a 4MP version, you need one with a 1/1.8" sensor...And that's a pricey proposition (a quick search on the dahua site, I found one that looks to cost $1400). So, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a 2MP PTZ now. Because if he runs out and I can't get one on sale, I'll be paying the same price on sale for one that has poorer low light capability, like this guy with a 1/2.8" sensor:

Don't get me wrong, that camera is a fine one with more zoom than this guy:

But even on sale the 4MP one is more expensive than the 2MP one brand new. So, you are gambling if you are in the market for the low light performance of the 2MP one above.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this, because I'm new to all this.

I have the SD49225XA-HNR feeding into an Dahua 16 channel NVR. It's a very nice camera but the NVR does not recognize it as an auto-track camera. I have a number of hours on this system but don't see anyway to enable tracking when it's attached to my Dahua NVR. Maybe this feature is available thru a pc-based DVR software?

Anyone?

Hmmm, the autotracking still need to do the settings, not plug in and play. Here has a guide.

As Andy said, you need to set this up from within the camera GUI.

The best way is to get into the camera GUI. To get into the camera GUI, you need to first access the NVR GUI by going to a computer and opening up a browser (preferably Internet Explorer but Pale Moon will work as well) and type in the IP address of the NVR and login that way. Next go into the camera settings page on the NVR and look for the Microsoft e Web Browser and select it and it will go to the camera GUI (photo credit bigredfish from his PSA thread). Your screen may look a little different to get into the camera gui and see if doing it this way gets you access to some other features the NVR is blocking - do not worry about the Port number and circle as that was from another issue someone posted.

Simply select the blue IE icon and it will go to the camera GUI and from there you can set the camera parameters.

You need to set up a preset.

Then you need to set-up the Smart Plan with Deep IVS for the presets you want to track.

Then select the object filters you want.

Then go to Deep IVS Rules Config page and you should see Track Time under alarm and Tracking Target size slider.

When setting up IVS rules, I strongly recommend you use intrusion box with appears and crosses instead of tripwire. And less is more. One IVS rule.

Leave min size as 0,0

Make sure that Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off.

I repeat, make sure Motion Detection and Smart Motion Detection are turned off LOL.

If you do not have the above screen with the Tracking Target Size, then you have a version without autotrack.

Thanks for the write up @wittaj . And thanks for the link @EMPIRETECANDY .
This is great timing because my 49225 came in yesterday. I ran a wire for it and am going to set it up today (BI computer came in and I need to transfer a HD to that PC from the nvr first.)

That camera is massive. I have a couple indoor cheapo ptz cameras and was blown away by how big this thing is in comparison. But I guess it has to be to be able to zoom so far and take in enough light.

Yeah the 49225 is no kiddie consumer toy LOL.

The big thing about my write up above that is different for BI is make sure you set this camera up in Explorer - not Edge, not Chrome with the IE tab, but plain ole explorer baked into Win10. If you use any other web browser, the track time will revert to 15 seconds regardless of what you put in. Plus you may not see all the options available to you.

There is also a bug with BI and this camera. In the camera GUI make MD and SMD one little block and put it on a schedule with no time on it and make the sensitivity the least sensitive. For some reason BI will turn MD and SMD on and that was messing with a lot of people thinking the camera wasn't acting correctly. Just use IVS.

Thanks, that's good to know. I've pinned IE to the taskbar:

Any other reasons to be using IE to configure other cameras?

Realistically you should use Explorer for every camera as that is the browser the firmware was developed for.

Too many people come here saying their camera is missing something and as soon as they switch to Explorer, they see more options.

One of the many reasons to resist the urge to update to Win11 for the computer BI will be on. No reason to, BI isn't designed for Win11, and Win11 eliminates Explorer.

WOW Andy - the flash sale on the 5442-ZE is awesome. That is still considered the king of the cameras to many of us, so take advantage of that deal!

And the 49225 and 49425 are great prices as well. I am so tempted to pick one up as a spare LOL.

"more zoom" doesn't equate to the x50 or x25 zoom number you mention - ie 32x being more than 25x

if a cam does 1mm - 50mm that's a 50x zoom
if a cam does 5mm - 50mm that's a 10x zoom

These two cams would zoom to the same 50mm but you'd think the 50x is "much zoomier". Don't be misled, use the actual mm's of zoom (and FOV at min/max zoom) to see if it fits what you want.

On the IPC-HUM8441-L1, how long is the wire from the lens to the main box?

Yes, the Z12E will have sales, just refer to the PDF.
Actually speaking the Z12E and other big bullet LIKE B5442E-ZE and IPC-B5442E-Z4E price also increase a lot because of the chips price increase.

hey guys....want to upgrade a couple 5231 cams and dead older 49225 ptz....
1) which 4k/8mp varifocal turret is the best bang for buck these days with audio?
2) between the 49225 and 49425 ptz's, how long will the autotracking firmwares be supported/updated? can audio be added to these easily?
