Trigger an MP3 of a pump shotgun racking a round. That'll get their attention and may actually chase them off. The lights and sirens on TIOC cameras are kiddy toys. Most miscreants ignore the completely, even if they realize that there is video surveillance involved.
Hahaha

That fucking Siren noise would be going off all over an entire Subdivision if that bullshit was included in the Costco systems. People would be ready to shoot their neighbors. and shoot the camera's
Even worse, imagine if all the Ring doorbells had an alarm! I would set the TIOC to a voice clip.

The flashing red light won't even be noticed by anyone unless they look up at the camera, which can be a good thing for a clear shot LOL.

The alarms (audio and flashing light) are set up within the camera GUI based on a schedule. I doubt the NVR even has the capability to do that (except thru the option of using the e browser) since these are specialty cameras and they would field lots of calls from people trying to set that up on cameras that don't have it.

The audio is a much better deterrent than the flashing light, especially outside. Too much open space. But indoor is will bounce off all the walls.

The audio isn't loud, but it is loud enough for a perp to hear it and not wake up the neighbors. I do not hear mine inside even standing next to where it is located through a closed window. But at 2am it will be plenty loud enough for a perp to hear it.
That's the audio level I'm looking for.
I either make this system dependent on Frigate and Home Assistant (two points of failure) or have one device that does everything all in one (but gimmick-y as others have stated).

The option of going with a older generation 8MP IR overview camera and a 4MP overview camera and skipping Full Color 1.0 / TIOC 1.0 is gaining more weight.

The pricing for the Dual Lens Full Color 2.0 is as expected at 315$ CAD:

I could add a lot more coverage for the price of one of these cameras (the EZVIZ DB1 is on sale for 99$ CAD at Best Buy Canada).

Yeah, but would a lot more coverage be good enough to get actual IDs? That's what it really comes down to, not flashing red lights and sirens. If you can't identify who did what it's all just an exercise in wasting time and money.

100% on that advice for IDing people in any other circumstance.

My requirement isn't to identify (thus why I'm looking for overview cameras). Small crimes are not charged in my city anymore. Deterrence is the only option / footage for providing to insurance proving what happened.

For an overview, the active deterrence are nice little cameras for the price - two-way audio and flashing lights. I have 3 of them and they serve the purpose very well.

I have one of the HDW3449HP-AS-PV TIOC cameras and two of the IPC-T5241H-AS-PV cameras.

And then in BI, I have cameras on the side of the house trigger the audio on these cams before someone gets around to the back of the house to hopefully deter them to turn around before they are in the backyard.

They get an under surveillance warning on the side and then a gun being cocked if they make it all the way around LOL.

As an update, I'm picking up a IPC-HDW3549H-AS-PV.

If the image is too dark with the 5MP, I have a well lit area I can move it to.

I had a neighbor's lawnmower take out a window on one of my vehicles over the weekend too (threw a rock while pushing it across the driveway). The 1080p camera still was able to figure out what happened. The 5MP would have done nicely in this scenario.

Are you getting the 2.0 version?
I got a 1.0 from someone I know coming for 110$ CAD. For that price, I'll start with the V1.0 and pick up the Full Color 2.0 or TIOC 2.0 when those come down in price.

I'm biased towards "value" vs latest and greatest.
