As promised, here’s another video for you, this time night testing with only illuminators and 4 min’s of caps. I featured illuminator only performance in my first night video (08:26 timestamp of video HERE) but I wanted to revisit this in the new FW (6-11-21). As I mentioned before its important to show all lighting BUT remember that if you want good performance from any cam at night you DO need to add additional lighting to get the best out of them. I strongly advocate for this. Now in the case of these f1.0, low dispersion lenses you don’t need much as I said before, even the low amount of light I demonstrated with the 1 x 100W LED + 1 x spotlight dimmed to 12.5w is more than enough to get you phenomenal quality IMO as I demonstrated before when dialing in the image HERE. Either way just wanted to call this out since its even more important when you move up to 4K. However what follows in this video is strictly the on-board illuminators only, no additional light (except 1 clip when a car is alongside that I call out and even that little light helps :) ).

You’ll notice the warm glow from the cam’s LED’s that look a little warmer since it started to pour down with rain when I started recording. I tweak the image slightly for white balance in cam as we move through the clips (around 1:34) and also move install locations to demonstrate what you can achieve when illuminators are your only light on scene. I would normally dial in a little more in cam than this as you've seen but wanted to get this out to you quickly.

You'll also notice a wetter looking Wildcat than usual :)

Be sure to force 4K on playback. Enjoy

Finally an LED on a camera that isn't gimmicky LOL. Sure doesn't look like most with an LED light.
Definitely dial in your image as you know I advocate for (and have not forgotten about you @wittaj, will reach out tomorrow to your DM) but having the 4 LEDs and more control over near and far illuminator light + a decent brightness and color temp to these make them more beneficial when you work with them in your FOV and image dial for sure.

That’s up to you. Remember that if you leave any cam illuminators on auto that you will always have some delay between detecting target, lighting needs and illuminating area. Therefore either keeping cam illuminators on (at your desired level / setting) or can utilize supplemental light as I show in my other video (which could be your choice of LED always on, motion sensor activated, smart switch etc). The video here is really to show how if you have nothing else available OR decide you don’t want supplemental light, the image capture possibilities still available to you.

It looks like the spec sheet shows built in mic and speaker as well. Do you have the mic disabled for your test videos?
