Yea, best to isolate ALL IP cams from the internet. Dahua ~10% owned by PRC, but Hikvision is ~42% owned PRC. Who knows if that makes any difference, but I use Dahua. Another reason China will win the IoT war, when it happens.

FYI -

All significant companies in PRC China have a CCCP committee in the company.
All companies are supposed to adhere to the will of the CCCP
All those at the top of the companies are expected to be members of the CCCP

China Uncensored as covered some of this ... if I find a video on it I'll share it here...

Actually as John with IPVM mentioned in his néws story, China Mobile, a state owned company, bought approx 10% of newly issued Dahua stock. This is the connection to the CCP.

That same company is connected to the parent company who owns a large part of HiK

Given various Trillions$ in “bailouts” and “stimulus” since 2009 it’s hard to say how many US companies are effectively “owned” by the US govt. Shut off the “free money” tap and watch how many crater overnight.

Right now all server for overseas dahua cams are using amazon's, data will not be back to China.
And all IP cams on amazon are from China, those small brand, i think has more risk then big brand. IPVM and other smart guys watch on the big brand, so i think can be more reliable.
China Mobile looks invest some money on dahua. Around 1billon USD.
Hikvision is totally a China Gov company.
