According to the main Hikvision distributor here in the UK 19th April in stock so a few weeks wait. Some companies have stock but a little more expensive. They run out of stock just after I purchased mine in late January so maybe first to get New Stock in UK.

So they run out off stock for 3 months , that is the proper time.
i still have some 2.8mm left.

Thank you once again for the invaluable info and help. I think everything is clarified now.

Oh, that's very helpful. Literally, it's like night and day difference.
The 5442 looks like it has its IRs on though.

I also got the ''best' 5442 bullet one - got it from Andy.

Yeah, it appears the varifocal feature is not something I will ever use as both my outside cameras are mounted at a set point with a standard 7-8 metres distance from the area of interest. That won't change unless I move house of course. Therefore, I'm more interested in low light performance and the ColorVu looks like it performs superior in the dark and in true colour mode. It's also substantially smaller in size and probably consumes less power too.
No IR's on in either camera. For the Colorvu that means no white light.

So is that this model @Parley ?

And you have the white LEDs turned on correct?
Is that the only immediate light source on the porch?
Yes, that is the model. No lights turned on for any of my cameras in the backyard. In fact only my license plate cameras have the IR lights on.

If I can get my hands on a 4mm I'll test it side by side with a 5442 NI 3.6mm bullet

I know which will win because I have had both. Mind you the 5442 is no slouch it is an excellent camera with a better interface IMHO. You won't be getting a 4mm for a month or 2 as no one has stock.

This site appears to have the 4mm in stock but listed at $257. Anyone have experience with them?

I would expect the 1/1.2 sensor and 4K to be great and better detail. . I’ll be testing in normal driveway light with no LEDs with a human walking around at 10-40 ft.

Still it would have to be a monumental change to have to invest in HiK as I have a lot of Dahua and run Dahua NVRs. Outside of your scene with obscene light I haven’t seen much of humans walking at night without LEDs

I'm waiting for the ColorVu G2 4k turret style version, too.

But I wish they have an AcuSense Darkfighter DS-2CD2386G2-ISU/SL style camera out which is 4k, turret
style, two-way audio built in and Strobe Light and Audible Warning, but with 1/1.2 sensor and ColorVu G2
night time color quality.

Or a 4k, 1/1.2 sensor PTZ with ColorVu and Optical Zoom. Hikvision DS-2DE3A400BW-DE almost perfect...
but no optical zoom or 4k. There is an older version with optical zoom but not ColorVu G2.

Sounds juicy. Not sure I'm convinced of the 1/1.8 vs the Hik for colour performance at night. However, the 1/1.2 should fair better.
