This is from last year but I just saw it, so please forgive me if it's already showed up here.

The video is sped up but the whole episode takes only 5 minutes in real time....I can't imagine how toxic the smoke is coming off those vehicles. :wow:

They need a way to sense the fire, and cut the power to the entire row. Wonder if that's
in the code? As a volunteer fire fighter, I would run the other way until I had a pack on.
Wonder what would work best to put that fire out? Foam? I need to look that one up.

I believe that a Lithium-ion battery fire rates an ABC or a BC extinguisher. However, a lithium battery fire needs a class-D dry powder extinguisher certified for use in lithium fires.

I don't know what the gasses are that are formed by the fire of the battery, but all of the plastics and other materials in the vehicle, when burned, give off quite a bit of toxic fumes.

There was a thread on candlepowerforums which I can't find now, which detailed how a member there was charging I think an 18560 which caught fire, and he ended up with pretty bad lung damage. I wish I could find it

Either way, I have no reservations with electric cars. I'd get an Electric F150 in a heartbeat

The 3.5 eco boost runs great! and the new hybrid should be even better.

I have the 2.7 EcoBoost with the 36 Gallon Tank. Love not having to fill up for 700ish miles. Would love that in an EV

I always said I would get a new F150 when they had the self driving features (figuring it was 5 years off) and then they come up with that (as an add on, what next year) but I think I'll was a year to let them get more bugs worked out of the whole new model. Plus, I just don't put on many miles a year anymore. (I'm not sure what engine I would get.)

I think the 2020 had the auto braking and I think lane keeping.
I have a 2021 F150, and it will drive it's self. Works well, but you have to keep your eye on it. My 2019 Acura RLX has it too. They operate off of the lines on the roadway, and it the lines go off to the side like in a construction zone the car will drive that way also. There has been some good changes in the years, they operate more smoothly with less operator interaction, but you still have to be ready to correct it if needed. Out on the open highway, you seldom need to help, but in the heavy city traffic, be ready.
Engine wise, if you are towing all the time and needing all the power in the world, get the V8 as it's solid and can be modified easily for more power.
If you drive the truck as a car, and seldom haul much of a load, get the 2.7 echo boost. If you haul a fair amount and tow occasionally, get the 3.5 echo boost, it will give you the torque of the V8 and the gas mileage of the echo boost. The 2021 gives you a 10 speed dual clutch in all of the combos. I haven't drove the new 3.5 echo boost with the hybrid.
In a race of the V8 against the 3.5, the V8, both 4x4, the v8 gets off the line a bit quicker, but by 100 foot the echo boost pulls along side, then passes the V8 and never looks back all the way to legal + speeds.

Interesting, my wife has a MDX so I know what you mean about the lines on the road, etc. That's part of why I just don't see how we will get driverless any time soon around here anyway. The 3.5 does probably make since, I don't tow the boat much these days. I love having my truck in the Rockies a few times a year, otherwise it doesn't get many miles on it. 2005 XLT wtih 75,000, hard to justify a new one.

With the problems that these "green" vehicles are having what with extremely cold weather affecting battery efficiency and with wind/turbine power not working to even charge the darn batteries, Tesla has just introduced their newest "green" car. They're sure that it won't suffer from the same issues as their other models...
