If you add this doorbell to your Dahua NVR, can you also use an app to view it or get notifications? I have the DMSS app but I do not run it all the time because I have to run OpenVPN when I’m away from the house in order to use the app. Thank you!
I think you’d be crazy not to buy from Andy, especially over $30! The knowledge and time that he has for all of us is easily worth the $30. Sounds like you should hold off on buying a camera or look at Andy’s refurbished list!
@daves52380 I have a Dahua NVR and looking at getting a doorbell. Are you still using it? What model doorbell are you using? Are you using a POE cable between DB and NVR? Are you only viewing the doorbell through the NVR GUI? Thanks!

I have this and it’s compatible with edge, chrome, etc. Really nice NVR. Look on his site for specs.
Here is Empire Tech’s website. I am running the NVR16CH-16P-2AI. It is a great NVR and he also has it in the 8 channel.

I think there needs to be an updated sticky thread that describes the popular cameras specs and what situations you would want that camera for! Seems like this question gets asked every other day :)
This is an old model that is end of life (EOL). I would get the new NVR so you are up to date on the features and technology. Are you using Dahua cameras?
Here’s the 8 channel:

I can almost guarantee you that most people on here recommends starting with the camera in this kit unless you are trying to capture video at a long distance!
I agree with mat200 and would go with a NVR that has the built in POE. It is incredibly simple to use and setup. EmpireTech Kit3 8/16-Camera Capable NVR System with IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 1/
I did this to the exact NVR you have a few months back and it was a life saver! The one in the power supply is the easy one. The other one you have to make sure the right colors go together. I can get you all the right information of you don’t have it figured out by the end of next week (away...
I have a Asus router. Within that router you can turn on OpenVPN. Once you have OpenVPN setup on the router, download the OpenVPN app on your phone. While connected to your home WiFi on your phone, open your router webpage that’s used to configure it (Asus router.com). Go to the OpenVPN and...
Keep an eye out for refurbished ones on Andy’s website. He updates the list every Tuesday night. Just last night he put on several of those cameras. I have bought many cameras off there and they have all been brand new looking!
The newer model cameras by Empire Tech (Dahua) have all that built in to the camera. After you got the camera initialized, you would login to the camera through the web by the cameras IP and set it up.
LPR: EmpireTech IPC-B52IR-Z12E-S2 1/2.8" CMOS 2MP Ultra Low Light Starlight
Facial: EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 1/1.8" CMOS 4MP IR Starlight Vari-focal Tur
Tracking: That would be a PTZ camera. Take a look on his website and spend time going through posts on here as the camera question has been...
Do you use DMSS to mobile view your system also? I’m assuming DMSS you don’t use OpenVPN and you have to use P2P? Do you by chance know a way to remote view without using P2P? Thanks man!!
I have the NVR16CH-16P-2AI from Andy. I have a Asus router and have OpenVPN setup on it and on my phone. I have the whole system up and going very well thanks to many people on here! The only thing I have not setup is remote viewing/notifications. I do not have P2P enabled on the NVR.
My...
I would definitely go with an Amazon device like an echo show, Amazon tablet, etc. Super easy to use and you can get the Alexa app on your phone which will allow you to always be in contact. We use this and it works great and crazy easy!
