record videos to external storage instead of internal HDD

I have a Dahua CCTV camera system, (dh-xvr5104hs-i3) and I don't want to use the internal hard drive for recording. Is it possible to use an external hard drive or network-attached storage (NAS) for recording footage instead? If so, how can I configure these settings?
or maybe backup daily video to external storage and delete old days from internal
If there is a way to do this, I would appreciate it if you could help me

Why would you want to? At that point why not just get BI?
